27/01/10-01/02/10: Business Trip to Mumbai, India... Part 1

I was expecting the trip to India to be after Chinese New Year however suddenly the company decided to send me there with only a day advance notice. Packed my bag in a hurry and took a flight from Kingfisher Airlines (Never heard of it before, must be a new airlines, the service was great, the plane was clean and neat, the stewardess is superhot however they smell one kind and so does the whole plane... or rather I am not used to the smell). I must give this airlines 4* because of the great service and being one of the few airlines still offering free drinks to economy class. Food was fine, real authentic indian food was chosen and it was good, passengers were even given real silverware. Why not 5*? because not too many international passengers will appreciate the smell onboard. Here are some pictas to share...

4* definately... 100% recommended

The last picture I manage to take at Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport before being stopped by airport security, he was carrying an AK better not mess around. Security seems to be very tight in this badly air conditioned airport. Not much services provided, even worse than american airports.

Kebab, nyum nyum.. Taste like satay.. Grilled to perfection.. Wrap it up and ate with indian roti. Lime and onions makes it a perfect bbq.

Something like potato bread or taiwanese pizza but it is made with spring onions and peas I think. Very yummie ^^ Forgot the name of the restaurant though XD I am sure I will return on the next trip

Eh... what's this.. Sounds familiar... They own the airlines? gosh... One of the best beers I ever had, cant believe it, although not very smooth it is definately not bitter.. Girls and non-beer drinkers would like it very much

The name of the place we had our dinner and some window shopping. To enter we had to be screened through an x-ray... ZZzzz

ITC-Grand Central Hotel

A nice and contempory hotel.. Very cosy.. Located at the heart of the business district, dont expect to have a nice view or a walk around at night because all you will get are slums. The rooms have everything you need from cotton buds to shoe polish. The several things that are lacking is free internet and a change of breakfast menu. ITC also has its positive side which I think any 5* hotel should provide in Mumbai, particularly free bottled water. It is a good hotel...? yes... is it value for money? 12000 Rupees (260USD) after tax... Nah.. Too expensive XD

24/01/10: Preston's bday party @ Edwin's place... The Gardens @ Bishan

Started my 8am day with a nice jog n chat with miss.xiang yi at Bedok Reservoir. The place was breath taking, had a great view and lots of activities going on. One round, I believe to be around 4-5km just nice for an hour of chat n sun-tan. But comparing it with Lake Gardens, the latter seems to be a better choice for hanging out and having a great time, the former is more for atheletes and serious joggers. What a great morning it was, spending time with a hottie and also got her to buy me soybean milk ^^ muahahahaa... what a cheapskate I am XD

Next, I headed to Edwin's condo for Preston's bday party.. Gosh was the food simply great .. Havent been eating proper food while at work, I over-ate this time but what the heck, its once in a bluemoon. Here are some pictures to share; taken with my cheapo camera...

9/1/10: Doing great!!!! in SG ^^

How the hell I end up being where I am now? If you ask me, I would say luck played a big big part. There's so much to tell already and yet more seems to come day by day.

First let me talk about my job, when I applied for this job, no company info was given. All I got was the title 'management trainee' and the job scope. After being emailed the company's profile I was not too excited thinking that my only chance to work in Singapore is from an unlisted company without a ang moh name. How wrong I was, since day 1 tonnes of general info was given, making the training so intense that my blood pressure started to peak. Day two I was briefed on my future responsibilities and was trained to fulfill it fast. Knowing how big my role is, I was so excited and also with the chance to other positions if things dont go well with my initial purpose. Third day was a big turn, I was called by one of the highest ranking for another interview. Apparently she has different ideas for me, now my job scope has been widen to cover nearly all the company's expansion and was being put into the loop of a handful people having classified expansion data.

Of course all these is meaningless if I am only earning what cousin Edwin will get as a raise if he's successful in getting his new job. So far the pointers are good, people previously holding my position are owning cars and buying hdbs only after less than 3 years being in my position. If my career goes well, I would be earning more than them in no time taking in consideration of the responsibilities being put on me.

Bout the company? Funny facts, 90% are Malaysians, 90% are engineers, scientist and technologist being put into roles that has nothing to do with their academic qualification. So far people are very friendly and atmosphere is very positive.

The bad? I gotta take a freaking 1 hour n 30 minutes avg bus to work and another 1 hour n 30 minutes back. 3 hours wasted!!! making me so exhausted everyday.. And I might have started having migrants (probably caught it in Alaska), due to work pressure. 2nd day took me 2 hours and 20 minutes to work because of the rain making roads jam up.

Blessings, what doesnt kill me will only make me stronger. With a great family here, Auntie n Uncle, cousin Edwin, cousin Andy's family, comfort was there when I needed it most. Colleagues are angels too, both the bosses and trainers.. One is even offering me a place at her new HDB, hopefully it gets renovated fast so I wont have to wake up to the horror of taking the forever bus.

Now that I had been given a great opportunity I will make sure the trust being placed on me will be repaid. Looking forward to return for CNY...

Solli ah, I r 2 bz no mucho post new stuff also no much picta lor...i r 4gods took kamala out yo, so mayb next time i r post picta k? :) over n out from bishan (bishan is in singapore not china for those of you who are blur)

25/12/09: Adventure is out there!!!!

Today is Christmas! like it matters to me... lol

Returned from Singapore, had a great time there with Auntie Daisy and family... and best of all, I got hired! The title is "Management Trainee" hmm... not too bad right?
The company is Mewah Group, located at the International Business Park @ Jurong East. Hopefully I can fine a place to stay nearby.

This is the building I will be based in. Looks not too bad from the outside. A lot of pricey cars are parked outside so I assume most of the people working in the company are well paid.

One of the factories in Malaysia. LOL, the design is taken from Command and Conquer =.="

Looking forward to start work soon, most likely be posted to India.
