How the hell I end up being where I am now? If you ask me, I would say luck played a big big part. There's so much to tell already and yet more seems to come day by day.
First let me talk about my job, when I applied for this job, no company info was given. All I got was the title 'management trainee' and the job scope. After being emailed the company's profile I was not too excited thinking that my only chance to work in Singapore is from an unlisted company without a ang moh name. How wrong I was, since day 1 tonnes of general info was given, making the training so intense that my blood pressure started to peak. Day two I was briefed on my future responsibilities and was trained to fulfill it fast. Knowing how big my role is, I was so excited and also with the chance to other positions if things dont go well with my initial purpose. Third day was a big turn, I was called by one of the highest ranking for another interview. Apparently she has different ideas for me, now my job scope has been widen to cover nearly all the company's expansion and was being put into the loop of a handful people having classified expansion data.
Of course all these is meaningless if I am only earning what cousin Edwin will get as a raise if he's successful in getting his new job. So far the pointers are good, people previously holding my position are owning cars and buying hdbs only after less than 3 years being in my position. If my career goes well, I would be earning more than them in no time taking in consideration of the responsibilities being put on me.
Bout the company? Funny facts, 90% are Malaysians, 90% are engineers, scientist and technologist being put into roles that has nothing to do with their academic qualification. So far people are very friendly and atmosphere is very positive.
The bad? I gotta take a freaking 1 hour n 30 minutes avg bus to work and another 1 hour n 30 minutes back. 3 hours wasted!!! making me so exhausted everyday.. And I might have started having migrants (probably caught it in Alaska), due to work pressure. 2nd day took me 2 hours and 20 minutes to work because of the rain making roads jam up.
Blessings, what doesnt kill me will only make me stronger. With a great family here, Auntie n Uncle, cousin Edwin, cousin Andy's family, comfort was there when I needed it most. Colleagues are angels too, both the bosses and trainers.. One is even offering me a place at her new HDB, hopefully it gets renovated fast so I wont have to wake up to the horror of taking the forever bus.
Now that I had been given a great opportunity I will make sure the trust being placed on me will be repaid. Looking forward to return for CNY...
