8/8/8: Sunshine after the rain

Work work work.. Damn sienz... ZZzzz... I was happy when I went to work... and suddenly I got PMS when I reach the workplace... Amy was not too happy, and so is Julie... Only Patrick is like himself... No idea why.. At night, things were better and my mood changed.. And this only make me believe more than I am a nocturnal creature.. Just another day at work but wasn't too happy.
My lunch... The best salad of all... The grilled chicken although kind of burn, it was excellent.. Was given a cheese cake from a girl working at Hudson News... Maybe because I leng chai XD

On the way back... something touched my heart... this is how the story goes....

Ever since arriving at Anchorage I had notice that the native community here has been ravaged with all kinds of problems... Alcohol abuse, domestic violence, minor crimes, underage sex, early pregnancy, obesity, lack of amenities at their village, low education attaintment just to name a few... Every time I see a native, he/she will either look confused, lost, with a bruise on the eye(domestic violence), with watery eyes (alcohol) or a single young mama carrying a several babies by herself.
There was even an article in the dailies recently, reporting that soda is so popular among their villages that it replaces water and sometimes even milk for babies. Clean water is scarce and everything is flown in, making things in Alaska expensive. So they would rather opt for a bottle of Coke/Pepsi rather than Milk or even just plain water. This causes problems like diabetes, dental problems and obesity among the young because the elders weren't educated enough to know that it is bad.
This shows how hopeless they are... as time moves on.. the natives were being left behind to suffer the ills of modern society and with the resources of their ancestors strip naked right in front of their very eyes by big conglomerate.... They couldn't do anything but to just witness and survive day by day with no goals and hope...
However today on the way back from work in the bus, I saw a family of natives and how wrong was I... Although they dont seem very smart or wealthy, they were sure happy. I know this by their smile, the kind of smile that would make anyone melt away, The way the mother hangs on to her daughter while the daughter make funny faces at her dad. The way the dad hugs and kisses the cheeks and hands of his son. Although many of the natives simply fail to adapt to modern living, a handful of them managed to, by staying simple and happy. As I left the bus the little girl smiled and waved at me, and that made my day.
Here are some pictures to ponder on...
