24/3/09: Sarawak trip! & my past week :)

Eversince returning from my trip to Sarawak I was kinda tired. As usually here are some pics to describe how I spend my week.

A must watch movie, something like 'sex drive' but in a different concept. It explores the sterotype being put upon Chinese in America in a hilarious manner. The story builds up around ping pong as a Chinese game, and how the Chinese community in America behaves.

Dont know whether is this fake of not. Kong kong brought back this fruit during his trip in Melaka, so weird hor the shape. After 1 week it still looks the same, however there's juice coming out so it doesnt seem fake. What faggot fruit is this?

Was about to finish my first lap, then suddenly out of nowhere I felt a warm splat on my chest. When I look down it was bird crap!!! WTF!!! Not even 1 km yet kena shiet already! Even the shiet shapes like a bird! Damn it, gotta walk home slowly and get my shirt changed as not to let it touch my body. How unlucky. After that 3 days I went and buy 4d also never kena, wasted rm12.

Taken from outside my suite at the Grand Margherita Hotel (former Holiday Inn) in Kuching. Their best view, since it was a suite but whats with the water? So brown... Although not poluted, it must be from the illegal logging upstream.

In this picture the Grand Margherita is where Holiday Inn was located. Vernie told me Riverside suck big time, even worse than Grand Margherita... So I can imagine how bad can that be, considering Grand Margherita suck to me. Should had chosen Hilton instead XD

Saw this pointing at the ceiling of the room, Vernie said it was for prayers.. LOL

57) Kolo Noodle (Sarawak)

One of Sarawak's famous dish, the other being Sarawak Laksa. Made from egg noodles, something similar to the Singaporean Wantan Noodle or the Hakka Noodle. Top with Char Siew (chinese bbq pork), minced pork meat, pig lard? and also pepper powder. Taste very good and it is a must considering it is only RM2.80. LOL!
Tada! This is the reason why we (me and vernie) travelled to Kuching, Sarawak. To setup our booth in East Malaysian Edu Fair. The place was located above a place called Permata Exhibition Complex/Top Food Seafood Restaurant/Permata Parking. Located 5 minutes walk away from our hotel, we took 30 minutes just to find the damn place. Why? I will explain later... Rather small as compared to the ones in KL, and most unis/colleges that participated are small ones.

Why? It is essentially a section of a parking lot that has been air conditioned! what a joke! you call these an exhibition centre? WTF! The lower 4 floors are parking lots, the 5th floor is an exhibition centre and the 6th floor is a seafood hawker centre... How screwed up can it be? The reason given by the organizers is that this place has been the place where exhibitions has been held all the while, even PC Fair is organized here. LOL. Change the venue for christ sake.

These seafood restaurant/stalls is located on top of the parking/exhibition centre. The concept of the stalls here is you choose the seafood displayed and they will cook it for you whatever way you want. The reason why people get attracted is the way the stalls display the seafood. However getting the place ready does mess the place up and creates a fishy stench. Imagine how the lift smells like when they use it to transport the seafood to the top floor. The lift smells like seafood, the stairs smells like urine. I guess that's because they charge for the use of the toilet and people that were unwilling to pay just let it go on the stairs. LOL.. I am serious!

There's like 5-7 different seafood stalls there with all similar seafood. We went to the stall which the girl called us the previous day when we were walking around. When we first started eating, it was all empty however towards the end, the stall was packed! I guess we made the right choice, as other stalls has less customers. Locals know best I guess.

At night we had grilled squid (sotong) with tom yam gravy and onion as well as seafood noodle. The squid was awesome, a bit too 'wet' I prefered the squid to be a little more burned. As for the noodle was so so. We had problems ordering as the people there couldnt understand what we wanted. Hahahhaa. I guess it is different there.
